This service is run by the Central Environmental Authority of Sri Lanka, the national body responsible for protecting and managing the environment.
Complaints about pollution and environmental damage can be made here at any time, from anywhere in Sri Lanka. Every complaint is registered at the head office in Battaramulla, given a number, and sent to one of the 25 regional offices, which are organised by province and district.
A regional environment officer investigates: visiting the site, meeting the people involved, issuing notices where the law requires it, and recording what was done. The regional director checks the outcome before a complaint is closed.
You can follow all of this from the tracking page using your complaint number. Complaints can also be made by calling the hotline on 1981, by letter, by email, or in person at any CEA office.
