What you can report
CEA acts on environmental harm, and takes anything outside its own mandate to the right institution for you.
Industrial pollution
Anything a licensed factory or business releases beyond what its environmental licence allows.
- Smoke and dust
- Effluent
- Noise and odour
Environmental damage
Harm to land, water, forests or wildlife where no licence is involved at all.
- Illegal clearing
- Waste dumping
- Sand mining
Referred elsewhere
Matters that belong with another authority are sent there, and you are told where they went.
- Local council
- Police
- Other institutions
How it works
Four steps from the moment you report something to the moment it is closed.
Step 1
You submit a complaint. It is registered at the CEA head office.
You get a number to follow it by, so nothing depends on remembering who you spoke to.
Step 2
It is forwarded to the regional office responsible for the area.
One of 25 offices, so the people handling it know the district.
Step 3
An environment officer investigates and takes action.
A site visit, and a dated record of what was done.
Step 4
The complaint is resolved and you are notified.
We ensure the issue is addressed effectively and keep you informed of the final outcome.
